NX250 12mm engine bracket bolt torque spec?

Beitrag von GleepGlop »

The manual doesn't list any 12mm engine bracket bolts. I went with the generic 40 ft lbs listed for 12mm fasteners and it's stripping the threads before I can get to that torque.

At first I thought it was because I put in the wrong fastener, even though they were still the correct size and pitch. I repaired the threads and the same thing started happening with the correct fasteners.

There are what appears to be soft thread inserts in the frame and they aren't up to the task of being torqued, unless the proper torque spec is something low like 20 ft lbs. I can't find the spec though.

The tightening torque specifications are in Chapter 6 of the workshop manual (engine removal and installation). There are only M8 (8 mm) bolts at 20 ft-lb and M10 (10 mm) bolts/nuts at 54 ft-lb. So, you were actually right with the 20 ft-lb ;) .

Well thats weird because the bolts in mine are 12mm. I don't know of any 8mm engine mount bolts there.

Okay, so a previous owner must have drilled them out. The mounting plates have 8.7 mm diameter holes, so M12 bolts won't fit through them. Anyway, I’d get some long M10 bolts and nuts. That way, you won't have to repair the threads (I suspect the wall thickness is already too thin), and through-bolts should hold just as well.
