Sorry if this has been covered I didn't see anything on the search.
I'm rebuilding my whole front brake setup and I'm wondering if there is any reason I shouldn't change the 3 piece OEM brake hose which is a rubber hose, an intermediate hard line, and then a shorter rubber hose, to just a single steel braided line.
I'm not sure why this was done this way from the factory, but my motorcycle experience is limited.
I found a website that sells one specifically for the NX but I could also have a custom one made which is what I did for my other Honda.
Steel brake line versus 3 piece OEM

Re: NX250 Steel brake line
No problem—one-piece braided steel lines are standard. For some reason, off-the-shelf kits are usually too long—presumably because they used the length of the NX650 brake line. As a result, the line ends up hitting the fairing when braking.GleepGlop hat geschrieben: So Mai 31, 2026 3:48 am I'm wondering if there is any reason I shouldn't change the 3 piece OEM brake hose which is a rubber hose, an intermediate hard line, and then a shorter rubber hose, to just a single steel braided line.
The NX250 brake line should be approximately 110 cm long; that way, the bend at the bottom will look like this. The length is also sufficient for slightly wider handlebars; for much higher handlebars, it is best to measure the required length precisely—for example, using a piece of fuel hose.

The best way to route the braided steel line is just like the original. Secured beneath the triple clamp using hose clamps—to ensure the line does not lie horizontally at that point (thereby preventing air bubbles from becoming trapped during bleeding)—and fitted with a spacer bushing on the right side.

The tightening torque values may differ from the specifications in the manual; with my preferred manufacturer, Probrake https://www.probrake.de/stahlflex-brems ... 1988-vorne , they are as follows.
You can keep the movable intermediate piece if the new brake line has a corresponding internal cone fitting download/file.php?id=16604&mode=view . Otherwise, you can remove it and connect the line directly .

Re: NX250 steel brake line
Thank you I'll wait until my bike is back together and then mock up a line to order the exact specs I need. I was thinking a pre made line might not be made to the length of how I want mine to be routed.
