NX250 street tires

Finding decent street tires for our nixies is a toughie, there are none in the original dimensions 90/100-19 and 120/90-16.

An option might be different sizes, given that this is legal in your country (in Germany, it's not: here everything is forbitten if not specifially allowed ).

There is one offer from Heidenau, the K65 in 90/90-19 and 120/90-16. A decent tire but weak on wet roads (http://forum.nx250.de/viewtopic.php?f=6 ... k65#p6990 ). Also Avon is offering the ROADRIDER AM26 in 90/90 -19 and MT90 -16 (74V). The latter is a Harley size, usually those have a much larger diameter. Which is not desirable with our NX250 because usually it changes the driving behavior (to the worse) and you need a larger rear sprocket.

Another option are 3.25-19 or 100/90-19 (which are almost identical in diameter to the 90/100-19) .
Below in front is a 100/90-19 Metzeler Roadtec - drives like a dream especially when in the rear on a 3.00-17 rim a 130/70-17 (almost same diameter as stock) is used.



In the rear its tricky if you want to stick to the 16'' rim. There are very few (and very old) profiles in 120/90-16, like this Metzeler ME77 Perfect. It's not a bad tire, but the technology is now more than 40 years old.





More common today is the size 120/80-16 (scooter tires) which has almost the same diameter.

For exampel my AX1 with 3.25-19 and 120/80-16 Continental ContiGo!

tyre preference is a funny thing. Some swear by certain brands others say they didn't get on with them. Personally, I like michelin for road, Mitas and Pirelli for dual sport and proper off road (trials) tyres. Shinko seem to do some decent stuff but I've yet to try any. If my rims ever turn up, tyres will be next on the shopping list. It's a shame manufacturers don't often specify the exact diameter of their tyres when fitted to specific rim widths, as this would make comparison much easier

I absolutely agree with Jonathan. I am a Bridgestone fan, at least on my Speed Triple, I realy prefer (tried Michelin and don't like them).
Actualy I have Bridge tires on the NX : TW39 front and TW202 rear. Those are little off road tires.
I plan to buy street tires in septembre as long as I mostly use my NX to go to work.
I found 2 sets of tires fitting but not original size.
You can get BT45 and the brand new BT46 in 100/90-19 57V front and 130/90-16 67H rear.

Contigo! looks great, I will post pictures and feelings whith the BT45 or 46 but it won't be objective

Please do - and measure the diameters and widths (see below) . I heard many good things about the BT45 so I am curios how the successor BT46 will perform on our NX250. I found this documentation from Bridgestone with appropriate rims, tire diameters and widths for the BT46

According to this, the size 3.25-19 is almost identical to the 90/100-19 and fits on the narrow 1.85’’ NX250 rim

Bridgestone BT46
100/90-19 rim 2.15～2.50 diameter 665mm width 103
3.25-19 rim 1.85～2.50 diameter 665mm width 96mm
Bridgestone AX41
90/100-19 rim 1.85～2.50 diameter 664mm width 94mm

In the rear the 130/90-16 has only a few mm more diameter - but this have to be checked. Sometimes the tire manufactures don’t stick to their own manuals

120/90-16 rim 2.50～3.00 diameter 623mm width 127mm

TW202 (120/90 x 16) it has few kilometers, 200 max
Diameter 623 mm, width 125 mm
They are realy near ...
I will soon get the front one and will tell you how I feel riding.

Nope not yet, I haven't gone for a ride neither because of 2 things :
First I havn't got the front tire yet due pierced air chamber while mounting the tire so they have to order a new one ...
Second I actualy have a wounded knee and doctor says I have to stop motorcycle for a while.

I will take pics when the 2 BT46 are on the bike.

BT46 3.25 x 19 front is 667 mm diameter and 95 mm width compared to the TW39 I have (used but don't know how much) 651 mm diam and 95 mm witdth
No problem around the swingarm

I haven't tested them yet because of Alex (the storm), pretty windy here 174 km/h last night.
I will tell you how they feel asap.
