Update 2023 - the NX250 chain sliders as described below are no longer produced. There are now 3D printing data viewtopic.php?p=26775#p26775 and printed sliders can be purchased from Paulito viewtopic.php?p=22439#p22439. .
Some of you may have noticed that the OEM chain slider is sold out for a couple of years. Since the slider is not available as an aftermarket part I decided to initiate a reproduction.
The slider is usually due every 18.000 km or 11.000 miles – the durability depends pretty much on the proper chain maintenance and tension (meaning: you can ruin a slider in no time if for instance the chain slack is too large).
A company specializing in small-scale production delivered a few prototypes (formed from the last new OEM slider I got). Tested first was a reproduction slider with OEM hardness (which is pretty soft ).
Now I’m trying a harder slider, after 2000km it looks like the wear is lower. The sliders will be tested by me and a couple of my friends throughout this year, so that hopefully we’ll come up with a durable slider in autumn. If someone needs a slider sooner he can get a prototype and become a tester, too. But even though it looks promising I cannot garantee the durability at this point.
